I learn new things.
Today ancestry.com is letting people have access to military records for free until Friday. Very cool of them, I think. My friend Jennifer, though. Jen is big into genology and my being here presents a new puzzle. So she dug into those records and found my great-grandfather's draft registration card showing his handwriting and signature as well as listing where he was born. Market Drayton in England. From there access to the Census of the UK was easy and now I have an idea of my father's side going back to the 1600's. Also, I pointed out where my Mom and maternal grandparents are buried. On Googlemaps I can actually point out right where they are. That is... interesting. I'm having a lot of exploration up here, both external and internal. |

Well, I'm on Google Wave now.
I haven't managed to do much with it, but while toying with the thing on another computer I saw the truth of the matter first hand. You see, Wave doesn't work right under Internet Exploder... I mean Explorer. You need the Google Chrome plug in to make it do that. So when I tried poking at it under Explorer it crashed and displayed the msg "Everything's shiney, Cap'n. Not to fret!" I love the Google people. Soon I will figure this thing out and it will be used for casual gaming for whoever wants in. As soon as I can figure it out and get my invites. :) |

KORROK THE SLAVEMASTER KORROK THE KNOWING KORROK THE WISE KORROK THE LIVING KORROK THE FAMISHED KO
Ahem... sorry. Got a parallel universe mind bending monstrosity caught in my throat. Anyway. I seem to be the only person at these auditions who can do more than one voice. It is estimated by more than one person that I am both "A ham. A big, fat ham" and the only one there who has half an idea of what to do with their voice. Seriously, nobody used more than one voice in any reading AND many of them criticized others for the lack. So I got the parts I read for in War of the Worlds. I am Announcer Two (the main interview voice), Observer (A bit part artillery grunt) and the Stranger (the guy at the end who wants to use Martian tech to take over the world). If there is a pod-cast I will link to it. If there is just a CD I will upload it... somewhere. Either way I should have something to show for mys KORROK THE SLAVEMASTER KORROK THE KNOWING KORROK THE WISE KORROK THE LIVING KORROK THE FAMISHED KORROK THE CONQUERER KORROK THE GIVER KORROK THE ALMIGHTY I SERVE NONE BUT KORROK *COUGHCOUGHCOUGH* Sorry! Wow, I need to go get a lozenge for that. --- --- P.S. The spell-check options for COUGHCOUGHCOUGH were GUOFENG, OVERCOOK, COFFEECAKE, GEOLOGIC, CUPCAKE, GINKGO, COVERAGE, FUKUOKA, CORKAGE, GAMECOCK, JOHNNYCAKE, COFFEECAKES, KEOKUK and COFFEECAKE'S. Live Journal gets confused easily, it seems. |

The Bug Was a "Cockchafer." I am in a radio play this weekend! Two parts so far, an unnamed writer and Scott the drunk. It is a little half hour thing, BUT the director has said he is impressed with me and I might be in War of the Worlds too. If there is a podcast, I will link to it.
I am pondering getting back into miniatures, but I am having problems with deciding where I want to focus my attention. Okay, I know I want to start up with the new Skaven figs for fantasy and some Reaper here and there, but until I get solidly working again my impulse purchases will have to wait.
Still, what do I want for 40K? I've done Orks and Eldar are sort of tempting. But the gonzo crazy of Space Wolves is rather amusing as well.
Also tempted to pick up a Silent Death box soon.
I don't have a scale yet for my "five pounds off by thanksgiving" challenge, but I have still been walking between 30-60 minutes a day. I'll start up the 200 Situps program as well. At least I can get my core strengthened up and get my generic back pains quieted down. And the blood pressure. Oh god, the blood pressure. I have to fix this. It is unaxecptable by any standard. |

So, I've played Heroscape now.
It is fun and simple and I get a perverse joy out of Gorillanators (just what it sounds like) running around shooting things, but it isn't enough. What it IS enough for though is making me start jonesing for other miniature games. Silent Death, Mordhiem, Necromunda... whatever. I want Space Hulk in the worst way, but that $100 price tag is a lot to swallow right now. I got to school Julian (new buddy) on Line of Sight though. "You don't have LoS to that fig." "Oh really?" And I grab a string from the nearby craft bin and draw LoS from head of one fig to center of body mass on the other. "... well crap." Other than that though, I pulled a muscle in my back assisting my hosts with their winter prep or something. I hurt. Very ouch. Once this heals I am going to kick up a exercise regime again, because with the amount of hiking that is planned I cannot afford to be a soft and squishy city-boy. |

To my peeps with a West Coast SYFY (gah) feed.
It was damn hard not to text everybody with bogus (and not bogus) spoilers about SGU. I have learned a touch of restraint. ;) Miss you all though. Still have no battery charger for the camera. Grr. Leaf colors are fantastic. Yay. Sleepy. More later. |

Getting back into the swing...
Looks like I've missed a bunch of stuff on LJ over the last couple of weeks. I'll get better at this. Little posts on Facebook have been the order of the day, but I don't want to miss out on LJness either. I'm going to go break into an abandoned house now though... have fun, everybody! |

Apartment schenanigans again. They promised us another apartment with the same layout as the old one, but now the insurance company says "Don't put them in that apartment, it has asbestos. Make them wait another month for their apartment to be finished." So they are happy making other people live in an asbestosy apartment, but not us because of the claim. Like saying "We don't feel comfortable putting you in another car since you already had an accident." So I have to move ALL my stuff this weekend to this damn place and get storage sometime wicked quick. I knew I would have to, but the way they are handling this is ridiculous. Let everybody in San Diego know, if you try and get an apartment that is run by Progress Management, they are going to try and screw you over if THEY screw something up. oh, AND Anthony's family is back in the front room for god knows how long. So I get to deal with them pretending not to be gay for another couple of weeks AGAIN while the Mom tries to run everybody's life with passive aggressive "Oh, I don't need anything, but my SON isn't happy" crap. ------------- In GOOD news, tomorrow is my last day at work and I should have plenty of time to actually do these things that need doing. It would have been nice if I could do it on the schedule that I was told I would be able to do it, not on a schedule of LIES. |

White Wolf people are silly.
Seriously. Observe these items from the Index to their Fair Folk supplement for the Exalted RPG. Note that this isn't a particularly silly book, being about inhuman, soul eating, chaos faeries. It just has a silly index. bear-killer.............................131 pedobear-killer.......see 4chan Hungry Like the Wolf ............. see Duran DuranHungry Wolves, the ................82 journey .....................................15, 113-114 Journey .................................... Disneyland is Practically a full C-note these days? Well crap. It has been a long time since I've been there, I guess. I was tempted to call off work tomorrow and go with some friends, but at that price.... yeesh. I just can't. :( |

Quote for the day.
"Have you ever actually thought about what it would be like for a Jedi in 40K? 'I heard a sound like a thousand voices crying out in pain, then suddenly silenced...wait...there it is again!" |

Guerin is posting... something annoying must have happened.
How many times should I explain to my dumbass drunk roommate that the dresser he is insisting should support his TV CANNOT support his TV before I give up and let it fall on his mindlessly intoxicated ass? Three times now he has agreed with me, I went back to bed and he started back up with the banging and the drunken attempts to arrange a TV precariously on the edge of the furniture. He can barely walk in a straight line and he thinks that he has to set up the TV so he can fall asleep watching Star Trek. His boyfriend is going to be pissed at the mess of wires and scattered electronics all over the place. Oh, this part is good. "OW!" "What happened?" "Nothing!" "You dropped the TV on yourself, didn't you?" "Shut up!" Ass. He seems fine though. Let him go to work bruised. On the plus side though, my plans to emigrate are moving right along. I don't think I'll be gone before Labor Day weekend, but I'm sure as hell not going to be here PAST it. |
